Who are the Pilgrims?
We are a somewhat disparate group of Christians, from a variety of church traditions, living and working in various locations around the globe. What we have in common is a desire to lead ourselves and others towards fruitful thought and action in the context of discipleship to Jesus Christ.
What does the name mean?
We hope the name conveys the sense of people on a journey towards a particular destination, which is on the horizon but can’t yet be seen with total clarity. We aim to write about that which we hope for, but also reflect on and try to understand the experiences of life, as we make our way inexorably onwards.
What kinds of things can I expect to read?
The subject matter will vary considerably, because life is complex. However, we hope to keep to the following themes:
Life in the “Radical Middle”
We often find dualisms unhelpful, and seek to find the best offered by what may appear as polarized positions. It is normally more comfortable to gravitate to a pole, since it affords us simplicity and clarity; however, that comfort is often obtained at a cost that we are unwilling to pay. Sometimes love requires that we sacrifice certainty.
We hope to direct people towards the leadership of Jesus, rather than to ourselves. We hope and pray that you will join us as we journey as pilgrims on the road with our guide Jesus.
We seek to build up, not to break down. Obviously there will be occasional breakage (eggs & omelettes, and all that), but not for the sake of being contrary, and not without offering constructive alternatives.
We hope you’ll join us on the journey!
